Federal IT JOB$ | Uncle Sam to hire 270,000 workers within three years

Study Finds Feds Need Major Hiring Binge to Fill Ranks

Numbers from Labor Department (DOL) for week of Labor Day

Health, IT, engineering, and transportation are most sought after in Public Sector [Federal]

BDPA and LISTA nurture trusted relationships within the Department of Labor and Federal agencies providing economic development opportunities to its members.
The federal government needs to hire more than 270,000 workers for "mission-critical" jobs over the next three years, a surge prompted in part by the large number of baby-boomer federal workers reaching retirement age, according to the results of a government-wide survey being released this coming Thursday.

NBDPA (formerly Black Data Processing Associates) and LISTA (Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association) continue to execute their respective missions by providing information and direct access to new opportunities for  small businesses, technical support, and career development services to their members. Shown in the photo above (L-R) is Perry Carter, President, BDPA Washington; The Honorable Hilda L. Solis, U.S. Secretary of Labor; and Jose A. Márquez Leon, President and CEO of LISTA during LISTA's National Legislative Technology reception this past June. See story (cover and page 9) in your Summer 2009 edition

CBCF | 39th Annual Legislative Conference

2009 Annual Legislative Caucus

September 23-26, 2009
Convention Center
Washington, D.C.

The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) each year produces the Annual Legislative Conference, a four-day event held in September at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

Thousands of elected officials, business and industry leaders, celebrities, media, emerging leaders and everyday Americans descended upon the Annual Legislative Conference (ALC) and its dozens of policy forums, general sessions, massive exhibit showcase, job fair, book signings and vast networking opportunities.

The Congressional Black Caucus - comprised of the African-American members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate - headline ALC every year.

The conference brings together diverse organizations and individuals to collectively discuss common issues and concerns. Its program includes more than 70 workshops, seminars and information forums on relevant topics that capture and portray the concerns of African Americans. Participants discuss the challenges facing underserved populations, including health care, economic success and failures, global and domestic security as well as highlight successes and provide critical information that will help to build strong communities, organizations and individual families. The conference also features the successful Emerging Leaders Empowerment Series, which is gaining widespread attention as it speaks to our future successors. In addition, the exhibit hall offers demonstrations and social events to complement the substantive content of the conference.

The Annual Legislative Conference is one of the most important gatherings of African American leaders. They really need and want all constituents to seize this opportunity to speak freely and often about their concerns, to network and build relationships, and to gather as much information as possible to take home and share within their communities.

NBDPA and  Regional BDPA Chapters look forward to seeing you September 23-26 at ALC '09 in Washington. For BDPA Members who wish to volunteer and staff BDPA's booth, call 1.800.727.BDPA (2372) for additional information.
