Washington--The OSDBU Council is an informal organization of Federal small business program officials that comes together monthly to exchange and discuss information on acquisition methods, issues and strategies; small business program initiatives and processes; and small business related outreach events that permit their respective agencies to increase their utilization of small businesses as prime and subcontractors to meet their annual requirements for services and goods.

The OSDBU Council is led by the Directors of the Federal OSDBUs who individually work closely with the U. S. Small Business Administration in the implementation of the Federal small business contracting programs.

To increase the opportunities for students, from underrepresented groups, who are pursuing studies in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines, the Department of Defense (DoD) High Performance Computing Modernization Program created the Joint Educational Opportunities for Minorities (JEOM) Program. JEOM focuses on students who have an interest in or would like to explore computational science and high performance computing challenges important to the DoD. A corollary goal is to ensure a competitive and diverse workforce within the DoD by offering training, mentorship, and career development for undergraduate students in the STEM disciplines. San Francisco, CA -- BDPA's National Board of Directors (NBOD) unanimously approved the charter for our BDPA Hampton Roads Chapter, Saturday February  7, 2009. Stakeholder communities in Virginia's Tidewater region include Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, and Yorktown. Colleges, universities, and HBCU/MIs within the chapter's region include Elizabeth City State University, Hampton University, Norfolk State University, Old Dominion University, and Tidewater Community College.
